David Wayne Bell was born 1 Nov 1966 in Baton Rouge, LA, to James Freemont Bell Sr. and Darlene Marie Maruska. Unfortunately he married Gretchen Hicks on 29 Dec 1993. David was discharged from the US Air Force and Working in Denver, CO. In 2001, David and Gretchen were living in Walker, LA, not far from his parents. He was shot and killed in his office near his home on 18 Dec 2001, just a week before Christmas. It was originally believed by authorities that this was a home invasion robbery, but the ONLY item taken was his wallet, and nothing else. Home invaders take everything of value for drugs. David and Gretchen had divorced. A substantial reward was offered for clues in the case. David was only 35 at the time of his death. It turns out after 2 long years of investigation, Gretchen and two men friends of hers are the ones who killed David. The 3 of them have all been prosecuted and remain in jail.
David was a carpenter by trade. He was survived by his parents; and 6 siblings, Rene Williams, Joseph Bell, Ricky Bell, James Bell Jr., Dale Bell, and Colleen Montgomery. He was predeceased by an infant brother in 1964.
