Benjamin Wesley Boldt was born 13 Aug 1883 in Hay Creek, Goodhue Co., MN to Gotlieb Boldt and Sophia Budensick. Ben made his home in that community practically all is hife. He was prominent in community affairs, served as township clerk for 12 years, and on the school board for 20 years. For 4 years he had been secretary of the Hay Creek Mutual Fire Ins. Co. board. Ben was a member of the First Methodist Church of Red Wing.
Ben married Elda Amelia Santelman on 25 Sep 1912 in Hay Creek, MN. They farmed there all their married life.
Ben, a former County Commissioner of Goodhue Co., died at St. Johns Hospital in Red Wing on 20 Apr 1940, at age 56, following an illness of a weeks duration. He had influenza which developed into pnuemonia.
Ben was survived by his widow, Elda, 3 sons: Jesse (Violet) Boldt, Sumner Boldt, of Hay Creek, and Lester C. (Irene) Boldt of Red Wing; and 5 daughters: Verna (Sylvester) Malnar,of Winona, MN, Misses Marion, Jean, Beatrice and Beryl Boldt of Hay Creek, his aged father, Gotlieb of Red Wing; 2 brothers, Glen Boldt of Red Wing, and Henry Boldt of Featherstone, 3 sisters, Mrs. Louise Grosse of Hay Creek, Mrs. C. Miller and Miss Lila Boldt of Red Wing.
He was preceded in death by his mother Sophia. Services were at the First methodist Chruch and burial at Hay Creek Methodist Cemetery.
