Services for Kenneth Norman Austin, 62, of Tahlequah, will be held Monday at 10 a.m. in the Reed-Culver Chapel Mr Arnott Lowder will be officiating, with burial following in the Tahlequah City Cemetery.
Austin was born Feb. 26, 1921 in Bristow and died Thursday in Adair County.
He was baptized and joined the Church of Christ in Stockton, Ca. He married Minnie Lorene Hammett, Jan. 6, 1940.
During World War II, Austin served under General Patton in the US Army European Theater.
He worked for the City of Stockton, Ca. and served as president of the Bus Driver's Union there. Austin drove the church bus route for eight years and was an active member and served a two year term as president of the Valley Rangers Horse Club. He moved to Tahlequah after his 1983 retirement.
Austin is survived by his wife Minnie of the home; one daughter, Linda Hartwick, Oakland, Orego; two brothers, Darrell Austin, Idaho and Bob Austin, Stockton, Ca.; one sister, Ileen Wills, Stockton, Ca.; three grandchildren and one great-grandson.
Pallbearers for Monday's services are Coy Hammett, Dwight Hammett, Roy Hammett, Gerald Hammett, Bernie Youngs, and Jerry Swartwood.
