Barbara Lynn Comer Anderson, age 78, departed this life on Thursday, June 5, 2008, after a lengthy illness, and was ushered into the presence of her Savior and her parents, George and Ferne Comer, who preceded her in the promised resurrection.
She was a joyful wife, a praying and loving mother and the "greatest granny." Barbara graduated from Virginia High School in 1946, and has kept in touch with many of her classmates over the years. She also received a degree from Marjorie Webster Business College in Chevy Chase, Md.
Barbara was a lifetime member of the Bristol community, where she attended Central Christian Church for the past 39 years, serving faithfully in the church choir, where she loved to sing until she was unable to continue. She also was a charter member of the local community Bible Study. She was active in a community bridge club and the local Red Hat Society. Friends and family remember a woman who always smiled and laughed while bringing sunshine into other lives. Her presence will be missed greatly.
Barbara is survived by her husband of 58 years, L. Lowell Anderson; her three daughters, Lelanda Anderson Brunson, Forest, Va., Gloria Anderson Rowley, Lawrenceville, Ga., and Laura Lynn Anderson, Bristol, Tennessee; her two sons-in-law, Kendrick Wayne Brunson and Kenneth Bruce Rowley; her five grandchildren, Matthew Lowell Brunson, Danielle Brunson Keaton, Michelle Brunson Spence, Kenneth Anderson Rowley and George Leland Rowley; their spouses, Tiffany Harper Brunson, Benjamin Justus Keaton and Phillip Charles Spence; and her four great-grandchildren, Benjamin Justus Keaton II, Josiah Matthew Brunson, Claire Dawn Keaton and Charles Phillip Spence.
Funeral services will be held Monday, June 9, 2008, at 2 p.m. in Central Christian Church Sanctuary, with Dr. Ross Dampier, pastor emeritus and longtime family friend, officiating. The family will receive friends from 1 to 1:45 p.m. prior to the service. The burial will follow the service in Glenwood Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Matthew Brunson, Kenneth A. Rowley, George Rowley, B. J. Keaton, Phillip Spence and Robert Greeson. Honorary pallbearers will be E. I. Byington, John Randall, Tammy Farnsworth, Randy Young and Larry Tanner.
The family requests any donations to go to the Wellmont Hospice Facility, 250 Steele's Road, Bristol, Tenn., who provided Barbara with excellent care and the family with comfort and support during Barbara's final days on earth.
