METCALF - Funeral services for Thomas Lester Metcalf will be held 2PM Tuesday July 1, 2003 in the chapel at JACKSONVILLE MEMORY GARDENS FUNERAL HOME 111 Blanding Blvd. Orange Park, Florida with Navy Military chaplain officiating. Interment will follow in the Masonic Garden Jacksonville Memory Gardens Cemetery with full military honors. Mr. Metcalf served his country proudly retiring from the United States Navy as a AEC, he then went on to retire from NADEP with a total of 47 years dedicated service. His memberships include; Past Master of the Orange Park Masonic Lodge #267, York Rite, Scottish Rite, Morocco Temple, Past President: West Jacksonville Shrine Club, Past President of Bally Hoo Unit, Charter Member of Roadrunner Unit, Knight Commander Court of Honor, and Past Present Booster Unit. Mr. Metcalf is survived by his loving wife, Sue Metcalf; three daughters, Sue A. Metcalf, Leslie Hall and her husband Phil, and Kim Moore Meyer; mother, Anne Austin Metcalf; three grandchildren, Kristen, Matthew, and Alexander, and numerous nieces, nephews, and many many friends. Family will receive friends on Monday June 30, 2003 from 6PM8PM at Jacksonville Memory Gardens Funeral Home. Immediately following graveside services the family will have a reception at the Orange Park Masonic Lodge # 267 Kingsley Avenue Orange Park, Florida. Family requests memorials be made to Crippled Childrens Fund Morocco Temple, or Community Hospice of North East Florida.
"Les" was born to Clarence and Annie Austin Metcalf. He was raised in Jacksonville and Orange Park Florida. He joined the Navy and married his soul mate Sue Moon Metcalf. They had two daughters Sue Anne and Leslie Kay. He has 1 Granddaughter Kristen, 2 Grandson's Matthew and Alexander.

"Les" retired from the United States Navy after 24 years of active duty. He then retired from NADEP with 20 years of civil service. He was a family man through and through. His memberships include: Past Master of the Orange Park Masonic Lodge #267, York Rite, Scottish Rite, Morocco Temple, Past President: West Jax Shrine Club, Past President of the Bally Hoo Unit, Charter member of the Roadrunner unit, Knight Commander Court of Honor, and Past President of the Booster Unit.

He was diagnosed with Stage 4 lung Cancer (June 2000) and given 2-4 months. Dad survived 2 years and 3 weeks from that time. The last week of his life was at Hospice hadlow center. His wife followed 1 year and 11 months later. They shared a love that not everyone gets to have. They even passed away in the same hospice room.
