Trula Kate (Sproles) Brummett, 96, of 4418 Village Creek Drive, Chester, Virginia, died January 24, 2009, at her residence. Born August 16, 1912, in Mendota, Virginia, she was the daughter of the late James C. Sproles and Sarah Ellen (Woods) Sproles. She was married for 75 years to Vernon Martin Brummett who predeceased her. Mrs Brummett lived most of her life in Danville before moving to Chester four years ago. She had been in declining health for the past four years. She retired from Dan River, Inc. with 24 years of service. In her leisure time she enjoyed gardening, quilting and crafting. She was a frequent recipient of the Danville Yard of the Month award. She was of the Baptist faith. She was survived by two daughters, Doris B. Harrison Hobart and husband Joe Hobart of Chester, Virginia, and Lou-Ella B. Cline and husband Charles R. Cline of Enon, Virginia. She was also survived by seven grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. In addition to her husband and parents she was predeceased by two daughters, Betty Faye Houston and Shelby Ann Brummett (Memorial# 58664341). Burial was at Schoolfield Cemetery. (Swicegood Funeral Home served the family).

My mother and Trula Kate were first cousins. I have heard mother and other members of the Claude Sproles family speak of her numerous times.

Mama, I miss you so much but I feel the Lord needed you there. I just read "Ninety Minutes in Heaven" and I look forward to being there with you and all our family and friends who have gone on before.You will never be forgotten.
