Ollie W. (OW) Barnes, died Saturday, March 25, at his home on Alfalfa Lane in Richmond, Virginia. According to Richmond Police. Barnes died from injuries when he was struck on the head with a blunt instrument during a disagreement Saturday. Richmond Police have charged Barnes's roommate, Vaughn Rufus Ward, 52, with the murder. Barnes, a native of Williamson County, was working as a roofer in Richmond prior to his death. He was the son of Mrs. Dorothy Mai Bennett of Nashville and James H. Barnes of Franklin. Survivors in addition to his parents include one daughter, Miss Dorris Ann Barnes of Franklin; one son Ollie Warren Allen Barnes of Bristol, Tennessee; one brother, James Delmar Barnes of Nashville; and grandmother, Mrs. Sadie Barnes of Franklin. Funeral services conducted by Walter Lee Smithson were held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 29, at Franklin Memorial Chapel. Burial was in Mt. Hope Cemetery with friends serving as pallbearers.
