Sam M. Abney
The funeral for Sam M. Abney was
to be held today at 4 p.m. at North
Aiken Baptist Church with the Rev.
A. Ken Carter and the Rev. Alvin
Hammond officiating. Burial was to
be in Jessamine Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Abney, 57, of Route 3, died
Saturday at a Richmond County
Mr. Abney was a native of Saluda
County, but lived in Aiken County for
the past 22 years. He was a member
of the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church.
He was a retired employee of the
Savannah River Plant with 26 years
of service. He was a veteran of
World War II.
Survivors include his widow, Annie
Littlejohn Abney; a daughter,
Shirley Abney, Aiken; two sons,
Sam 0. Abney and J.C. Abney,
Aiken; his father, Luther Abney,
Saluda; and two sisters, Mrs.
Waters Mae Shaw and Alice Wiley,
Pallbearers were to be Lawrine
Brown, Lonnie Johnson, Dexter Lee,
David Dorch, Willie Upson, and Bill
Jessamine Memorial Gardens
