Mrs. Bicknell was born June 4, 1942 in Washington, D.C. to the late Wayne and Elsie Brown Summerville. A son, Thomas Summerville, also predeceased her.
She was raised in Arlington, VA and received her degree from Shepherd Collage. Mrs. Bicknell worked with Magnavox in Ashburn, VA before retiring in 2002. She loved spending time with family and enjoyed traveling, gardening and collecting.
Mrs. Bicknell is survived by her beloved husband of 20 years: Clarence "Sonny" Bicknell, U.S. Navy (Ret.), of Sterling; two daughters: Lori Kennedy Powell (Bill) of Ashburn, Carol Allyn Kennedy of Canon City, CO; two stepdaughters: Lynn Ellen Nowak (Paul) of Sunderland, MD, Cindy A. Maxted (Will) of Edgewater, MD; a brother: Jack Summerville of Wicomico Church, VA; the father of her children: Allen R. Kennedy of Harrisonburg, VA; three grandchildren; five step grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
A celebration of her life service will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, October 23 at the Crossroads United Methodist Church in Ashburn, VA. Memorial services will be held at the Ft. Myer Chapel in Ft. Myer (Arlington), VA on December 22, 2011, with interment to follow in Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, VA.
