Blackburn "Blackie" Fields entered into the presence of his Lord and Savior on Friday, May 5, 2006.
He was born on December 31, 1921 to Ed and Bessie Mae Fields in Alix, Arkansas.

He graduated from Hackett high school. Blackie served in the United States Navy in WWII aboard the USS Stanley as a member of the Little Beavers squadron and earned several medals for his service to the country. After serving as pastor of various Assembly of God Churches, he became an active member of Evangel Temple where he served as Minister of Visitation and a Sunday School teacher for many years. Blackie retired from AFCO Metals in 1984.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Roy, Henry and Charlie Fields.

He was survived by his wife of 64 years, Jean Fields; children, Gloria Perkins of Fort Smith and James Fields of Sherwood; brother, Jerry Fields.

Funeral service was at Evangel Temple Assembly of God with Rev. Don Hutchings officiating with burial at the U.S. National Cemetery in Fort Smith.
