Douglas E. Anderson, 72, resident of Copan, died Monday, in the Hillcrest Medical Center. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday in the Copan United Methodist Church with Rev. Bill Wright officiating. Interment will be in the Sunnyside Cemetery at Caney, Kansas. Funeral services and interment will be under the direction of the Stumpff Funeral Home & Crematory. Family will be receiving friends from 7 p.m. - 9 p.m. Thursday in the Stumpff Funeral Home Chapel. A memorial has been established and those who wish to make a contribution in memory of Mr. Anderson may do so to: Copan United Methodist Church P.O. Box 70 Copan, Oklahoma 74022.

Douglas Earnie Anderson was born August 29, 1937 at Dewey, Oklahoma to Earnie and Mary Lenora (Tucker) Anderson. He was raised and received his education in Copan, Oklahoma graduating high school there in 1957. Mr. Anderson was married to Lois Ann Thomas on July 29, 1957 at Bartlesville, Oklahoma.

He was employed with Dr. Pepper Bottling Company for several years until he began working at REDA Pump Company working there for nineteen years. Mr. Anderson began his career in the oilfields in 1981 working there until his retirement.

He attended the Copan United Methodist Church for several years and was a member of the Copan Volunteer Fire Department for over twenty years. Mr. Anderson also served in various capacities with the Copan City Council. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, traveling and attending NASCAR races.

Survivors include; his wife Lois Ann Anderson of the family home in Copan; two daughters Regina Gray and her husband Ray of Bartlesville; and Anita Ashley and her husband Carmie of Norman; three brothers Dewayne Anderson of Copan; Damon Anderson of Independence, Kansas and David Anderson of Copan; five grandchildren Jennifer & Gil DuPont, Christopher Gray, Heather Kidd, Timothy Ashley and Nathan Ashley; and one great-grandchild Ashlyn Kidd. Mr. Anderson was preceded in death by his parents.
