IOWA – Memorial services for Eleanor Haile Brandrup, 81, of Charles City, IA, were held Tuesday, July 7, at 11 a.m. at the Trinity United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Cookeville.
Mrs. Brandrup died Saturday (July 3, 1987) in allen Memorial hospital in Waterloo, IA.
Born July 16, 1905 in Cookeville she was the daughter of William Henry and Ann Morgan Haile.
Mrs. Brandrup was a retired teacher and a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church.
She graduated from Tennessee Tech in 1927. During those years she served as senior class president, assistant editor on the Oracle and manager of the basketball team. She received a bachelor's degree in home economics from the University of Tennessee and a master's degree in home management form Iowa State University. After college, Mrs. Brandrup taught in Cookeville for one year. She was a member of the Delta Kappa Gamma Society, Theta Theta Epsilon, Omicorn Nu and Phi Kappa Phi.
Her family includes her husband, Leonard Brandrup of Charels City; one son, Leonard, of Austin, TX; two
daughters, Anne Bender of Jesup, IA and Henrietta Rothman of Boulder, CO; one brother, Paul F. Haile of Kingston; four grandchildren and two stepgrandchildren.
Mrs. Brandrup was preceded in death by two sisters and six brothers, including James and Kenneth Haile of Cookeville.
