According to the book "Do You Remember Campbell Hill?", Ethan Allen Barrow (Sr.) was over seven feet tall. He died of pneumonia on April 11, 1904.

Ethan's obituary from the Eclipse, April 15, 1904:

"Ethan Allen Barrow, one of the most highly respected citizens of this community, died of pneumonia at his home 1 1/2 miles west of town at 1:20 o'clock last Monday afternoon, aged 34, years, 10 months and 22 days. It is said that death loves a shining mark, and the saying has certainly held true in this case, for Mr. Barrow was truly one of nature's noblemen. As a son and brother, husband and father, friend and citizen, he had comparatively few equals and no superiors; and as a consistent Christian and untiring worker in the cause of religion he stood at the head of the laity of his church. He was also a true and valued member of the Campbell Hill Camp No. 7426 M. W. of A., and was always ready to do anything in his power to promote the welfare of the order. Deceased was a son of James and Sebray Barrow, and was born May 19, 1869. On November 17, 1897, he was united in marriage to Miss Minnie Brashear. He lived 1.5 miles west of Campbell Hill, IL and was reported to be over seven feet tall. Died age 34y 10m 22d of pneumonia. Besides his wife and three children (Ruth, Carter and Edith Afton), he leaves an aged mother, one sister (Mrs. Myra White of this vicinity), six half-brothers (F.J., A.J. and J.S. Barrow this vicinity, John Barrow of Calhoun, Mo., J. V. Musgrave of this village and Perry Musgrave of Christopher,Ill.) three half sisters (Mrs. Mary Wakins of Washington, Mrs. Eva Wayland of Oklahoma, and Mrs. Kate Carter of Poplar Bluff,Mo.). The funeral services were conducted by Rev. A. J. Rendleman, assisted by Revs. G. A. Gordon, J. W. McMillan and T. O. McMinn, at the Free Baptist church in this village at 1 o'clock Tuesday afternoon. The interment took place in Calvary cemetery, the ceremonies at the grave being in charge of the Modern Woodmen. There has seldom been a funeral in Campbell Hill so largely attended, and as the multitude filed past the bier of their departed friend and neighbor to silently bid him a last farewell, the tears that welled to their eyes were a beautiful tribute to the memory of one who had lived a beautiful life."
