Joseph A. Geschwend, age 81, of Edwardsville, died at 12:25 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 4, 2005, at University Nursing and Rehab Center.

He was born on Oct. 29, 1923, in Collinsville, the son of the late Albert and Katherine Eckstein Geschwend.

He married Evelyn Ammann on July 27, 1946, in Collinsville. She survives.

Also surviving is a son: Robert Geschwend of Alhambra; a daughter: Susan Cox and husband, Frank of Glen Carbon; two grandchildren: Kurt and Kristin Geschwend; and a brother: Charles Geschwend of Glen Carbon.

Mr. Geschwend was a farmer for many. He retired in 1990 from Richards Brick Company as a truck driver. His memberships included the Edwardsville Moose Lodge 1561.

Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 6, at Weber Funeral Home in Edwardsville.

Funeral services will begin at 10 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 7, at the funeral home with Fr. Steve Sotirott officiating.

Interment will be at Highland City Cemetery.

Memorials are suggested to the Heartland Hospice, Alzheimer's Research or the charity of donor's choice.
