J.T. Blair, 71, of Shawneetown, IL passed away Monday, March 3, 2008 at his home.
He was born near Cave-In-Rock on April 16, 1936, to the late Avalone and Ruby (Rash) Blair. On Dec. 19, 1964, he was married to the former Emma (Turner). J.T. served his country in the Army. He retired after many years with Peabody Coal Co., working in management.
J.T. loved to play golf, cards, and if you knew him very well, he was a master at telling stories.
He was a good husband, father, grandfather, brother and son. He will missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his wife, Emma (Turner) Blair of Shawneetown; daughter, Stephanie (Shawn) Hicks of Holeman, Wis.; daughter, Lisa Blair of Shawneetown; brother, Dannie (Mary) Blair of Shawneetown; brother, Prentice (Dottie) Blair of Bloomington; and grandchildren, Lauren, Bronwyn, and Gwyneth.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Almetta.
Visitation for J.T. will be 5 p.m. Thursday, March 6, 2008, at the Cox and Son Funeral Home in Shawneetown. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Friday, March 7, 2008, at the Honeycomb Church near Karbers Ridge, with the family receiving friends at the church after 11 a.m. The Rev. Harold Miller will officiate.
Interment will be at the I.O.O.F./Empire Cemetery in Elizabethtown with military rites.
