Lt. Emmett Kyle "E.K." Jennings, U.S. Navy retired, 86, died July 17, 2006, at Leigh Memorial Hospital after a brief illness. He was predeceased by his parents, six brothers and a sister. E.K. is survived by his wife of 62 years, Catherine Corbett Jennings; four sons, Emmett K. Jennings, Jr. and wife Aminta of Norfolk, Charles C. Jennings and wife Margaret of London, England, Mark P. Jennings of Norfolk and David J. Jennings and wife Cheri of Midlothian, Va.; grandchildren, Victoria, Virginia, Christina and Alexandra Jennings of London, England, Carie Hall and husband Ian of Chicago, Ill., Coleman P.B. Jennings of Midlothian, Va.; a brother, Robert C. Jennings of Wytheville, Va.; and many cherished nieces and nephews.
Mr. Jennings was most proud of his family and his 20 years of naval service in World War II and Korea, and in particular, his service in the OSS (later CIA) and aboard the USS Iowa during those wars. He was a member of the American Legion Post 204, The Fleet Reserve and the VFW.
