Pvt. Frank J. Ackerson, 158th Aero Squadron, survived the torpedoing & sinking of the troopship "Tuscania" on 5 February 1918 in the North Channel between Scotland and Ireland by German submarine UB-77.

He returned from World War I aboard the "Great Northern" in May 1919 as a private 1st class.

On the "Tuscania," he listed his mother, Helen Rupert, of Ochelata, Oklahoma, as his next-of-kin. On his return voyage, he listed his sister, Mrs. Irene Denecheyn, of 23 South Nogales Street, Tulsa, Oklahoma.
