Michael Joseph Anuta
MENOMINEE, Mich. - Attorney Michael Joseph Anuta died at the age of 103 on September 9, 2004 in Marinette, Wis. at the Renaissance Assisted Living.
Michael was born February 4, 1901 in Pound, Wis. His parents were Michael Samuel Anuta and Charlotte Czudnochnowski Anuta.
Anuta resided in Menominee from 1925 to 1996. He was prominent in Upper Peninsula and Northern Wisconsin organizations, International Rotary, the Presbyterian Church and Lake Superior and Mackinac Presbyteries and Synod, the Nicolet Area and Bay-Lakes Council of the Boy Scouts of America, the Menominee Chamber of Commerce, various Menominee County Boards, all Masonic and Michigan State Historical Societies, the Marinette-Menominee Amateur Radio Club, and the Civil Air Patrol. He served as Menominee County prosecuting attorney from 1937-1948 and municipal judge from 1958-1968. He was a 33rd Degree Mason. He, with others, was instrumental in the purchase of property for Presbytery Point Camp at Lake Michigamme and Bear Paw Camp in Nicolet National Forest for the Boy Scouts.
Michael is survived by his wife of almost 83 years, Marianne; his sons, Michael and his wife, Elaine, of White Bear Lake, Minn., Karl and his wife, Barbara, of Boulder, Colo.; his son-in-law Michael Milidonis of Gaylord; and his daughters, Nancy Beauchamp of Oberlin, Ohio and Janet Dalquist of Houghton. There are 14 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. He also leaves two sisters, Esther Bond and Inez Sanchez; and a brother, Edward Anuta, all of Ariz.
Mary Hope Milidonis, the oldest daughter, preceded him in death.
A public Christian service of praise and thanksgiving for the life of Michael Joseph Anuta will be held at the First Presbyterian Church in Menominee on Tuesday, September 21, at 11 a.m. The family requests no flowers.
