Garlen Ray Cripps, 77, of Gladwin, died Monday, Nov. 6, 2000 at the V.A. Hospital in Kansas City, MO.

Born Jan. 19, 1923 in Gladwin, he was the son of the late William and Myrta (Allen) Cripps. Garlen married the former Ula Faye Benmark, Oct. 26, 1946 at the Gladwin RLDS Church. He served his country during World War II, serving in the Marine Corps, and was an active member of the VFW Post 7303. He worked for The Dow Chemical Company, retiring in 1981 after 34 years. He was an active member of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

Besides his wife he is survived by three daughters, LaDora and husband Richard McFarlane, Jacqueline and husband Larry Isberg, and Alecia Cripps, all of Missouri; one son, Roland of Gladwin; two brothers, William, and Don and wife Agnes; two sisters, Ila Farrow and Neva Vaughn; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one son, Michael Laverne; and one sister, Arlen Wray.

Services were held Saturday at the Sisson Funeral Home with Don Pendleton officiating. Burial and graveside services were in Highland Cemetery under the auspice of the VFW Post 7303. Gladwin County Record dated 11-15/2000 Column - 2 Page - 2
