Death: Mar. 1, 1900

Newfoundland Prime Minister. A prominent lawyer, he served as the Prime Minister of Newfoundland from April 1865 to January 1870, as a Member of the Coalition Party, and January 31, 1874, to April 1878, as a Member of the Conservative Party. He also served as a Member of the House of Assembly, Delegate to the 1864 Quebec Conference, and as a Chief Justice. (bio by: K)
