Sidney Richard DeBoer of Hanover passed away Sunday, May 30, 2010 surrounded by his loving family and the compassionate staff at the Norwell Knoll Nursing Home after a long battle with Parkinsons Disease. He was the loving and devote husband for over 50 years of Marilyn (Schramm) DeBoer. Born in Weymouth, August 21, 1931, he was the son of the late Sidney and Hazel (Cox) DeBoer. He was the loving son-in-law of the late Henry and Margaret Schramm of Maryland. After graduating from Weymouth High School in 1949; Sidney entered the Electrical Industry where he worked for a local distributer. He was the co-founder and owner of North River Electric Supply in Norwell and a member of NAED. He was well liked and respected throughout all areas of the industry. Sid was always willing to support any of the local charitable organizations within the community as well as being instrumental in helping others to start their own businesses. Sidney also served as trustee for South Shore Savings Bank for over 30 years and he was a member of the 26th Infantry Division of the Mass Army National Guard for several years. Sid served as a Committee Chairman for the Boy Scouts Troup 8 and as Superintendent of the Sunday School at Old North Union Church both in South Weymouth. He was a member of the First Congregational Church of Hanover/UCC and a member of the Merriweds group. He was also a member of the Mill Pond Swim & Tennis Club. When not working, he enjoyed bowling, golfing and tennis with his friends, gardening, reading and spending time with his loving family. Sidney will be remembered for his engaging conversations, quick witted humor and winning smile. Besides his loving wife Marilyn, he is survived by his five sons: Steven and his wife Wendy (Strachan) of Plymouth, Brian and his wife Suzanne (Merrick) of Pembroke, Richard and his wife Tammy (Edsall) of Plymouth, David of Hanover, and Jimmy and his wife Rebecca (Eaves) of Hanover. He was the loving grandfather of 14, Taryn, Amanda, Melissa, Cory, Kaley, Derrick, Tyler, Trevor, Rachael, William, JD, Zachary, Ben and Eliza. He also leaves a brother-in-law Henry Schramm and his wife Carolyn of Maryland, a sister Ann Kilburne and her husband Jerome of Westwood, several nieces, nephews and many grand nieces and nephews. He was the brother-in-law of the late Dorothy (Schramm) Baumgartner. Funeral Service in the Sullivan Funeral Home, 551 Washington St., (Rte. 53), HANOVER on Monday at 10 a.m. Interment in Hanover Center Cemetery.
