Birth: Sep. 13, 1836
Cumberland County
Pennsylvania, USA
Death: May 26, 1860
Muscatine County
Iowa, USA

Jacob Klepfer, a resident of the Third Ward, who accompanied the party that went down the river with Neidig & Burtuer's hay boats, nearly two months ago, returned on Wednesday, severely ill. As he got out of the omnibus and entered his house he said, "I have come home to die" - after which he was unable to converse with his friends, and lingering till last evening, he died. He was about 23 years of age, and leaves a wife and child. His disease was some kind of fever contracted at Memphis, Tenn. He was too ill on the way home to give directions concerning his baggage, and it is supposed to have been lost at some point on the route-probably at Lasalle or Rock Island.
