LEWIS M . KAUFMAN

Died 9:45 p. m . Saturday, June 22, 1991, at Baton Rouge General Medical Center. He was 97, a native of Hunnington, Ind., and a resident of Baton Rouge. He was a retired U.S. Postal Service assistant postmaster. Visiting at Rabenhorst Funeral Home, 825 Government St., noon until religious services at 2 p. m . Tuesday, conducted by Rabbi Paul Caplan. Burial in Liberal Cemetery. Survived by a son, Louis Levy Kaufman , Baton Rouge; a daughter, Beryl Kaufman Kober, Baton Rouge; two grandsons, Dr. Ronald Kober, Lake Charles, and Richard D. Kober, Baton Rouge; and five great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by wife, Clarice Levy Kaufman . Pallbearers will be Eric Gidan, James B. Kershaw, Milt Chapman, Dale Maas, Raymond Mills, Terrance Durousseau and Jack Hodge. Honorary pallbearers are retired postal employees and members of Baton Rouge Optimist Club. He was a member and past treasurer of Beth Shalom Synagogue and a member of Baton Rouge Optimist Club Inc., American Legion Nicholson Post No. 38 and Masonic Lodge No. 372, F&AM. In liew of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Beth Shalom Synagogue, 911 Jefferson Highway, Baton Rouge, 70819, or Greater Baton Rouge Heart Association.
