ABERNATHY (Special) - Funeral rites were held at the Baptist Church here, April 27, for Mrs. John T. Crow, 82, who died on April 26, 1944 at the home of her daughter, Mrs. W. D. Harral, in Snyder. Rev. C. C. Griffith, Ditch Baptist pastor, officiated, and was assisted by Rev. J. Frank Nix, local pastor, and Rev. Mr. Leverett, Baptist minister of Sudan. Burial was in Abernathy cemetery.
Surivors include 12 children, all of whom were present for the funeral, seven sons, who served as pallbearers, Milton and Alvin, Friona, Lee, Christoval, Elvin (Dutch), Sudan, Ollie (Doc), Slaton, Arthur, Muleshoe, Luther, Sommerville; five daughters, Mrs. R. L. Thompson, Brownwood, Mrs. C. E. Williams, Abernathy, Mrs. C. D. Dameron, Vernon, Mrs. W. D. Harral, Snyder, Mrs. Henry Harral, Milnesand, NM., 35 grandchildren and 37 great-grandchildren.
Flower bearers were granddaughters, Pauline Williams, Mrs. Jo Dolph Adisson, Abernathy, Mrs. E. L. Elkins, Staten, Wanda Harral, Lubbock, Mrs. Wylie Byrd, Tulsa, Mrs. Clifford Crow and Mrs. Wilmont Crow, Friona.
Mattie Kate Carty was born the last day of February 1862, in Arkansas. She married John T. Crow in Arkansas. Twelve children were born to this union. The family moved to Brownwood, Texas in 1900 and came to this community in 1917. Mr. Crow died here several years ago.
