Jennifer Michelle "Jenny" Oakes, 17, Banks, died Aug. 22, 2004, at Legacy Emanuel Hospital in Portland of injuries suffered in a motor vehicle accident.
A celebration of her life will be Thursday at 1 p.m. at Banks High School Gymnasium, 450 S. Main St. Family and friends are invited to a reception at the Ashwood residence, 45920 SW South Road, Gaston, Immediatley following the services.
A Prayer service will be Wednesday at 7 p.m. at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 39135 NW Harrington Road, Roy. Interment will be in Union Point Cemetery.
Miss Oakes and her twin sister, Rachel were born April 26, 1987.
She would have been a senior this fall at Banks High School, where she was on the track and cross-country teans, She participated in AP classes at the school and earned membership in the National Honor Society.
After high school, she planned to attend college to study to be a pediatric nurse.
Miss Oakes was known as a sweet and caring person with a warm smile who loved to laugh. She would do anything for the people who were important to her.
She enjoyed reading, spending weekends at the family's beach house, playing games, making necklaces with her family, camping, shopping, taking trips to Disneyland, and spending time with friends and family, especially her boyfriend Tommy Bonnin.
Survivors include her mother and step-father Shelly and Troy Ashwood, Gaston; her father and step-mother Jim and Peggy Oakes, Banks; three sisters and a brother-in-law, her twin Rachel Oakes, Gaston, Kristina "Tina" and Aaron Lacasse, Hillsboro, and Caitie Oakes, Banks; two brothers and a sister-in-law Jesse Ashwood, Gaston, and Duke and Monica Revel, Hillsboro' grandparents, Jack Oakes, Wilsonville, Marilyn Hutchings, Tempe, Ariz., and Ross and Bev Ashwood, Keizer' and numerous uncles, aunts, great-uncles, great aunts and cousins.
The family suggests memorial contributions to the Jennifer M. "Jenny" Oakes Scholarship Fund, in care of Jim Foster; principal, Banks High School, 450 S. Main St., Banks, OT 97106.
