Mary Bill Liddia Large was born in Dallas, Texas to Joseph William Large and Esther Josephine Briscoe. Her sister was Clarence Birdie (1888-1964). Her brothers were: Edwin Harrison (1892-1982), Fred Nelson (1894-1951), and James Edward (1897-1897). Mary was the Grand daughter of John Large and Emily Pope, and Hezekiah Briscoe and Mary Jane McMannis. She married Jose Isac Noberto Gonzales on 16 September 1915 in Ennis, Ellis County, Texas. The children born to this marriage were : Raymond Earl (1916), David Lorenzo (1919), Bethel (1921), Daniel (1924), Peter Patrick (1927), Thomas (1929), Margaret (1931), Sadie Mae (1932), and Sammie (1934). This marriage ended about 1940.

When Mary was about 11 years old her grandmother gave her the golden wedding ring that Hezekiah Briscoe had given Esther on the day of their wedding. She told Mary, "The one that loved me the most gave me this ring, and now I am giving it to the one that I love the most". Mary wore that ring the rest of her life but bequeathed it to her grandson Michael Key quoting the same words of her mother Esther, "- - - to the one that I love the most".

Mary passed away in 1970 in the same city she was born in, Dallas, Texas. Her sons who lived in Colorado had her buried in Imperial Memorial Gardens Cemetery just outside the city limits of Pueblo, Colorado.
