The following was written by Erlene Sparks:
We called her Vickie. She was the daughter of Margaret Taylor Hill. She married Rev Benny Bridges and they had two children a boy and girl.

MY MOM:

Everyone else called her 'Vicki' but I call her Mom.

She has often been referred to as "an angel on earth".

I never had the pleasure of getting to know mom. She died after having an elected surgery when I was 11 months old. However, her testimony has carried on even after her death and has given me the opportunity to learn about her and what kind of woman and mother she was.

During her short time here on earth, she learned the most important thing in life was to give her life to Christ and live her life for HIM. She had very strong faith and demonstrated her faith even during my highly unusual birth.

Due to the ongoing heart problems that mom had, she was advised by doctors to have an abortion even while she was in labor with me. Mom clung to her faith and against all odds - she went against all doctors orders even while her life was at stake and demanded that she would have me regardless of what the doctors said. After changing hospitals and doctors in the middle of labor - I was born 6 wks. prematurely and remained in the hospital for another month until I weighed enough to go home.
And, I am here today to share this story with you because of mom's unselfishness and most of all her unwaivering faith in God.

When I think about how mother was so willing to put my life before her own it reminds me of how Christ demonstrated His love for us at Calvary and gave His life for ours.

My mother was a true saint of God and I want to say "Thank You" mom and "Thank You" Lord for the gift of life given to me on that June 15th morning in 1973. My mother's Faith in God is why I am here today. What a wonderful legacy.
