Dale Dawayne Escott, 82, Ft. Meade, died on Saturday, August 23, 2014, at the Ft. Meade VA Medical Center.
Dale was born on January 23, 1932, in Faith to John "Lynn" Franklin and Venita Lucille (Walter) Escott.
He grew up in the area and went to rural grade schools up to the eighth grade. When he was young he worked on various ranches before he joined the US Army on November 25, 1952, and served until his honorable discharge on November 3, 1954.
He became disabled while working in logging. He enjoyed listening to old western music.
He is survived by two nephews, numerous cousins, and his cat, Weeble.
Dale was preceded in death by his parents, and his sister, Helen Lee Graves.
Graveside services will be held at 12:00pm on Wednesday, August 27, 2014, at Black Hills National Cemetery. Military honors will be provided by Sturgis Veteran's Honor Guard. Family and friends will gather at Kinkade Funeral Chapel at 11:00am before the service.
