Martha Ann Frampton and George Edward Bishop were married in May 1871 in Canterbury, England. They sailed to the U.S. on the Aleppo and arrived in Boston on July 3, 1871. They first traveled into Canada, where she wanted to stay, because it was more like England, but he wanted to come to the "wild west," and so the newlyweds came to Kearney, Mo., by rail, where they farmed the land, raised their family and ran a grocery & butchery.
