William L. "Bill" Boyer of Eugene died May 9 of age-related causes. He was 88.

Bill was born Feb. 3, 1916, in Anthon, Iowa, to Walter and Pearl Clark Boyer. He married Katherine Summers in Whittier, Calif., on Feb. 2, 1935.

He lived in Meridian, Idaho, and Portland before moving to Eugene in 1952. He graduated from El Monte High School.

He worked as a division manager at Safeco Insurance Company from 1952 until his retirement in 1978.

He attended the First Church of the Nazarene in Eugene. He was a member of Shadow Hills Country Club and Toastmasters. He was also a 33rd Degree Mason.

He enjoyed traveling, golfing and reading.

Survivors include his wife; a son, William "Bill" Jr., of Naples, Fla.; a daughter, Judy Blain of Eugene; six grandchildren; and 10 great- grandchildren.

Musgrove Family Mortuary in Eugene was in charge of arrangements.
