Mary Ann Ray was the first wife of James Patterson Eastes. They were married March 7 1835. Their children include: William Johnson Eastes, James Asbury Eastes, Arminta Eastes, Angeline Eastes, and Silas Eastes, and Silvester Eastes.
After her death in 1854, James married a second time to Rebecca Dorman. They moved to Stark County, Illinois, and then into Sedgwick County Kansas. He died 14 July 1894 in Benton, Butler County Kansas and is buried with his second wife, Rebecca, in the Deem family Cemetery also known as the Fairplay Cemetery, in Butler, Kansas. He has two memorials by each cemetery name.
Note: James Patterson stopped using the "a" in the spelling of the name and so went by James P. Estes as did many of his descendants.
