On June 1, 1936, the Chicago Police Department honored William Bailey with an Honorable Mention, for an exceptional act of bravely involving risk of life performed on Thursday, August 17, 1933. William would remain a Chicago Police Officer until his death.
William Leon Bailey married Sally Foley, on Monday, September 17, 1923, in Dunkirk,
New York. To this union was born their only child, Burdella Bailey.
