William Leon Bailey, was born Friday, May 1, 1896 to Gearlene and William Leon Bailey, in New Madrid, Missouri .

William Leon Bailey, would serve in the United States Army, during World War I, and be honorably discharged as a Private.

William Bailey, joined the Chicago Police Department, as a Patrolman on Staurday, January 3, 1931. On June 1, 1936, the Chicago Police Department honored William Bailey with an Honorable Mention, for an exceptional act of bravely involving risk of life performed on Thursday, August 17, 1933. William would remain a Chicago Police Officer until his death.

William Leon Bailey married Sally Foley, on Monday, September 17, 1923, in Dunkirk,
New York. To this union was born their only child, Burdella Bailey.

William Leon Bailey, died on Monday, May 25, 1959, at his home 7628 South Eberhart Avenue, Chicago, Illinois.

William, was survived by his wife of 35 years, Sally, daughter: Burdella Hawkins (Dennis), and grandson: Dennis William Hawkins.

William Leon Bailey was buried at historical Lincoln Cemetery.
