Verna Atkinson, of Broomfield, died June 28.
She was born in Greeley to Harold and Florence Hidy, and lived her young years in Windsor. She and her family settled in Steamboat Springs where she graduated from High school.
She attended the University of Denver, receiving her bachelor's degree in 1950.
Her father died many years ago but her mother recently died at age 104.
She met her husband John at the University of Denver. They were married on March 8, 1951. They recently celebrated their 58th wedding anniversary.
While rasing her family she was active in local ploitics and community affairs. During her later life she spent many years volunterring at the Broomfield Depot Museum as well as the Broomfield Senior Center.
During her 58 years in Broomfield she made many friends, was well loved and will be missed by all.
A gravside ceremony and reception. In lieu of flowers the family requests contributions be made to the Broomfield Community Foundation. 4 Garden Center Broomfield, CO 80020
