Abstracted: Brazelton, C. Farmer and stock raiser, section 29, PO Greenwood. b. Jefferson Co. TN 5-13-1815, lived there until about 10, moved with family to Vermillion Co., IL. He lived there until 1837. While there he learned tanning and currying. He spent 8 years then in agricultural pursuits. 1854 he settled in Douglas, Polk Co. He commenced business for himself with a nominal capital of 25c, but with a large fund of energy and honest determination to succeed. He now owns 715 acres of land and 9 valuable lots in Des Moines. His annual stock sales are about $5000." He was postmaster in Greenwood for 7 years. He married Miss Anna Thornton in 1836, Vermillion Co., ILL. They had 8 children: Jacob, Margaret, Jennie, Mary, Albert, Joseph, Fannie and Letta. They lost 2. Mrs. Brazelton was killed in a railroad accident near Columbus, OH in 1876. Brazelton married Anna Charman of Colorado in February. She was the mother of his nephew's wife, Mrs. Alexander Brazelton.
