Ivy Belle Brazelton was the second child born to Maude and Joe Brazelton. She finished the ninth grade in Elbert and that is where her formal education ended. Her life experiences taught her well and she was a very intelligent woman. Ivy always enjoyed children. She loved caring for her little sisters as the came along and her brothers also ! She married at the age of 17 and started a family of her own. In 1942 she moved to California and liked it so much she never came back to Colorado except to visit of course ! Ivy loved to cook and that became her profession. She retired in 1968 at the age of 65 earning 1.65 per hour. She received Social Security retirement. Her hobbies included knitting and crochet. She liked to travel to Colorado to visit her mother and sisters. She also loved to talk! and she was the best story teller! She could remember everyone's birthday and any other important date. She joined the Air Force Mothers Club when her son Joe was in the Air Force. Among her many friends throughout her life, Gladys Clybourne as a girl in Elbert, and Merle Bauerschmidt. Mary Krauss who was the mother of her daughter in law was a very close friend at that place in her life. The highlight of her life was probably the big Brazelton Family Reunion in 1984. We love you Aunt Ivy and still miss you like ever!
