KENNETH CLAPP, 97, formerly of South Whitley, died Wednesday, April 25, 2007, 2 a.m., at Peabody Health Care, North Manchester, where he had been a resident since January of 2006. He was a long time restaurateur. Born Feb. 20, 1910, in Huntington County, he was a son of Henry L. and Minnie (Harper) Clapp. On Sept. 2, 1933, he was married Vera Alice Snyder. He was the former owner of Kenny's Drive-In, South Whitley. Surviving are his wife, Alice; four children, David (Shirley) Clapp of North Manchester, Terry (Absorn) Clapp of Hunhin, Thailand, Julia (Thomas) Redmond of Dallas, Texas, and Thomas (Barbara) Clapp of Columbus, Ohio; one sister, Geneva Heeter of Huntington; 11 grandchildren; 7 step grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and 17 great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a sister, Henrietta Henricks; and five brothers, Don, Herbert, Mark, Frank, and Royal Clapp. A graveside service is 10:30 a.m. Monday at South Whitley Cemetery, 7500 West St. Rd. 14, South Whitley, with the Rev. Daniel Riccius of Eel River Church of the Brethren officiating. Visitation is from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Smith & Sons Miller Chapel, South Whitley.
