Carl E. Reiter, 84, passed away on February 12, 2007 to fly with the angels after surviving his battle with cancer. He was a WWII veteran having served in the 8th Troop Horse Calvary and was honorably discharged on January 1, 1947.
Carl was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He was a strong fixture in so many lives; guiding with his words, strong hands, and even more so by example. Carl loved life, country western music, cooking, painting, dancing, fishing, the Green Bay Packers, and most of all his wife and family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ed and Margaret Reiter, eight siblings, and his daughter Nancy. Carl is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Edna Mae; children, Ron, Pat, Doug, and Jill Ann Reiter Smothers; grandchildren, Kara, Ali, Lisa, Michael, Kristi, Stefani, Chris, Sammie, and Noah; and eight great-grandchildren.
Family and friends are invited to a visitation Friday, February 16 from 6-8 p.m. with a Rosary at 7 p.m. at Messinger Mortuary, 7601 E. Indian School Rd., Scottsdale. A funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, 3801 N. Miller Road, Scottsdale. Interment to follow at Paradise Memorial Gardens, Scottsdale.
