Mrs. Cecil Mathis, 60, wife of Lloyd Mathis of Leavenworth, died early today at a hospital in Osawatomie after two months of failing health.
Mr. and Mrs. Mathis operated the Mathis Hatchery and a hardware store in Parsons for a number of years. About five years ago they moved from Parsons to Leavenworth.
She was born Cecil Wellborn on April 10, 1901, at Greentop, Mo. When a girl she came to Parsons with her family. She was married to Mathis here on Jan. 1, 1921. She was a member of the Evangelical United Brethren Church of Parsons.
In addition to the husband she is survived by two sons, the Rev. Jack Mathis, Earlton, and Jerry, a medical student in the University of Kansas; a sister, Mrs. T. W. Bayless, Parsons and four grandchildren. Two brothers and a sister preceded her in death.
The body is being returned and services will be at 2 pm Monday at the Blossom Funeral home conducted by the Rev. Don V. Bumgarner. Burial will be in Memorial Lawn.
