Davis Services

Funeral services for John A. Davis, who died at his residence in the Thompsonville Community on Monday, will be held on Friday, November 18 at 3 p.m. at the Thompsonville Methodist church, under the direction of Seydler-Hill Funeral Home. H. C. Newman will officiate, with interment in the Thompsonville cemetery.
Mr. Davis was born on November 15, 1933 in Thompsonville to Jeff Storey and Sadie Brown Davis, natives of Thompsonville and Texas respectively. He was married to LaVerne Schroeder and she survived him.
He was an engineer, working for ARMCO Steel, and had taught school for many years in the Waelder Schools. He was a member of the Thompsonville Methodist church, the Thompsonville Wolfhunters Association and the Gonzales Elks Lodge. He was a graduate of Waelder High School and Texas A&M University, and had served with the U.S. Air Force as a pilot.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter Julia Davis of New Braunfels; three sons John C. and James A. Davis, both of Pearland and Michael S. Davis of Friendswood; two sisters, Mrs. Floyd (Arlene) Wilder of Austin, Mrs. G (Muriel) Jamison of Arlington; two brothers, Wayne of Harwood and Winston Davis of Teague; five grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be I. M. (Buster) Sherry, Bobby Guy Atkinson, H. C. Fairchild, Kent Knox, Bill Calwell and Jimmy Fairchild.
