Rev Billy Hibbard

Rev. Billy Hibbard was a minister in the Methodist-Episcopalian Church. He also served as a chaplin in the Berkshire Massachusetts Militia in 1814.
Billy and his wife Sibbel had nine children. A few of them(Freeborn Garrettson,Wesley)followed in his footsteps to become ministers also.
He is credited with helping to start a number of churches throughout New York, Massachusetts,and Connecticut as a Circuit Rider Minister.
He died August 17,1844 from exhaustion due to his travels for the church.
Rev.Billy and Sibbel are both buried in the Queechy Cemetery in Canaan, New York.

"As a preacher of the Gospel he was Zealous, Faithful, Affectionate; a pattern of good works in his Life; a friend incorrupt in his doctrines; a comforter of the sick and afflicted. A stranger to guile; As a friend, faith full; in Charity the good Samaritan. He was released from his earthly Charge in peace with God, and with men. In the 49th year of his ministery."
