James N. Bailey, 94 of Billings, formerly of Rosebud Creek, died June 3, 2000, at Aspen Meadows Nursing Home in Billings.
Jim was born August 28, 1905, on the Henry Bailey Ranch on Rosebud Creek, the son of Henry N. and Alice Lynch Bailey. He attended elementary school at the McKay School and spent a year at the Automotive Trade School in Kansas City, MO. The rest of his years were spent at the Rosebud Hereford Ranch, until he moved to Billings in 1998.
On December 31, 1931, Jim married Mary Elizabeth Nugent in Miles City, Montana. He was a lifelong member of the Knights of Columbus and the BPOE in Miles City. Jim founded the Diamond, Montana, telephone exchange in the 1950s.
His wife, Mary, preceded him in death in October 1999. He is survived by two sons, Dr. James H. Bailey and his wife Sharon of Great Falls, Don Bailey and wife Connie of Rosebud Creek; his daughter, Mary Ann Lammers and husband Duane of Corvallis, Oregon; eight grandchildren and one great granddaughter. Jim was preceded in death by his parents; brother John Lynch Bailey, and two sisters, Margaret Broadus and Minnie Eagen.
