Fulbert Alabran, aged 84 years, a veteran of the Civil War, and well known resident of Smicksburg for many years, died at his home early Monday from complication of diseases.
Born in Germany, he came to this country when a lad of seven years and lived near Juneau. At the outbreak of the Civil War he enlisted in the 61st Penna. Volunteers and served three years and a half during the conflict.
He was united in marriage to Miss Caroline Wineberg, Canoe township, and the couple located on a farm near Smicksburg, where they spent their wedded life.
He was a member of the Smicksburg Evangelical church.
He leaves the following sons and daughters: F.H. Alabran of DuBois; J.M. Alabran of Ridgeway; Mrs. Sadie Steele of Home; W.F. Alabran of Smicksburg; Mrs. Carrie Heitzenrater of DuBois; Mrs. Annie Stiver of Juneau; and Mrs Mary M. Blose of Yatesboro.
Funeral services were held at the home of S.C. Blose, in Yatesboro, on Tuesday evening and burial will be made in Marchand cemetery. A guard of honor composed of members of the American Legion of Punxsutawney acted as a military escort for the aged veteran.
