Martha Jane "Mattie" Hibbard first married Sheldon Winfield Cromwell on November 14, 1901 in Asher, Pottawatomie County, Oklahoma. Together, they had six children: Otis, Sheldon, Harvey, Mattie, Minnie and James. They owned a grocery store on 12th Street in Sulphur, Oklahoma. After Sheldon's death, Mattie married Luther S. Phillips May 10, 1949 in Gainesville, Cooke County, Texas. Mr. Phillips did not live long after they were married. Mattie was buried with Sheldon in Ada.
