Wallace "Wally" Barce, 81, of Kalispell, died at Immanuel Lutheran Home on Tuesday, June 1, 1993.
He was born May 17, 1912, in Bellevue, Idaho, to George and Edna Barce. His father owned Barce's Livery Stable, where they boarded and cared for thoroughbred horses.
When Wally was 8 years old, he moved with his family to Fairfield. He attended Choteau schools and graduated from Simms High School.
On June 28, 1935, he married Edythe Larson in Great Falls. They lived in the area until they moved to Tacoma, Wash., in the early 40s. He worked as a carpenter in the Tacoma shipyards.
They moved to Rollins in 1946, living between Rollins and Kalispell until they moved permanently to Kalispell in 1991 after selling their lake home.
Wally worked for many years in the Flathead as a carpenter and was actively involved in the Carpenters Union 911. He loved to fish, hunt, camp, and do anything, that was outdoors. Edythe shared his enthusiasm for those interests.
He was preceded in death by two brothers.
Survivors include his wife, Edythe, at the family home, two sons, George Barce and his wife, Jan, of Pablo and Warren Barce of Havre, a daughter, Judi Filler, of Kalispell, four grandchildren, Tammy Filler of Kalispell, Rob Barce and his wife, Angel, of Kalispell, Brett Barce of Kalispell, and Tina Filler of Kansas City, Mo.; four great-grandchildren, Colby, Nick, Anthony, and Austin, and a brother and a sister.
Memorial services will be Monday at 2 P.M. at Johnson Mortuary Chapel with the Rev. Peter Ramseth of Immanuel Lutheran Home officiating. Burial of the urn will be at Conrad Memorial Cemetery. Friends will gather at the home of Judi Filler after services.
The family suggests memorial may be made to the Bratsburg section of Immanuel Lutheran Home.
