ROBERT DAVIES, TACOMAN, DIES
Robert Davies, 89, of Tacoma, died yesterday morning at a local hospital. He came to Aberdeen a week ago to visit his sons, Glenn and Robert Davies, was stricken and died after just a few days' illness.
Born in Cardiff, Wales, May 25, 1862, Davies came to the United States as a child 83 years ago. A coal miner, he lived at Renton and Black Diamond as a young man and in the Centralia-Bucoda district for 50 years. For the past 11 years, he had resided in Tacoma. His home was at 1911 Fawcett Avenue.
An ardent Odd Fellow, he joined the IOOF lodge more than 68 years ago at Renton and at the time of his death was a member of lodge 129 at Bucoda and a past noble grand of that lodge. He also was a member of the Canton and the Rebekah lodge.
In addition to his sons here, he is survived by two other sons, Edward of Boulder, Colo., and William of Sutherlin, Ore.; daughters, Mrs. Minnie Tompkins, Tacoma; Mrs. Maybelle Roney, Pe Ell; Mrs. Margaret Rushmer, Centralia; Mrs. Myrtle McAloon, Shelton; Mrs. Edna Duke, Olympia, and Mrs. Gladys Gribble, Honolulu; also numerous grandchildren.
The body is at Elerding's and was to be taken today to Centralia for services at the Newell-Hoerling mortuary and interment in the family plot at Bucoda.
