| Birth: | Apr. 1, 1908 | | Death: | May 16, 1980 | Born as Robert Clarence Nobles, Bob was raised by his grandparents in the backwoods of New Brunswick, Canada. Later his nomadic father would send for him to meet him in the states, where he would become Bob Nolan. Call it fate, call it what you will, Bob was brought out to California to do numerous odd jobs (even as a lifeguard) before seeing an ad in a newspaper, searching for a singer for The Rocky Mountaineers. It was there that he met the future Roy Rogers and Tim Spencer, and the begining of the birth of the Sons of the Pioneers.Bob was the one to pen many famous songs, among the most famous "Cool Water" and "Tumbling Tumbleweeds."
