Grace Mitchel ( Clark) Whiting
Joephine was born and raised on her parent's family farm.
She graduated from Upton High School and a college in Philadelphia, Pa. with a degree in Domestic Science.
She taught art, sewing and embroidery at the Girls Trade School in Worcester Ma.,for a few years.
Josephine was a very beautiful and talented woman.
After studying the Catholic history for three years, she was received into the Catholic Church on June 22, 1922, at St. Paul's Cathedral in Worcester.
On her 25 birthday she received her first Holy Communion and was confirmed.
She entered the Holy Union of Sacred Hearts March 4, 1924.
After a varied apostolate at the Fall River Academy, Sacred Heart Parochial School, and Patchogue, she was sent to open a new mission at Mon Lewis Island, Alabama.
After a few detours she became a grade school teacher at St. Anthony's school in Taunton, Ma. until it's closing.
After retirement she enjoyed sewing, knitting and crocheting articles to sell, and visiting the sick and elderly at the Marian Manor, a home for senior citizens.
