The mother of Ralph Garcia of Bluffton, Emma P. Lopez,
79, of East Chicago, died Tuesday, Dec. 12, 2006 at St. Catherine Hospital in East Chicago.
A resident of East Chicago for over 70 years, she served 15 years as a NWI Visiting Nurse. She was a life member
of the Griffith VFW #9982 Women's Auxiliary and a
founding member of the GI Forum of East Chicago.
In addition to the Bluffton son, she is survived by her husband, Henry A. Lopez; a daughter, Rachelle "Shelly" (John) Mucha of Demotte, Ind., a sister, Olivia Carrillo of Virginia; 12 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren and five great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Kathleen R. Ortiz, a son, Richard S. Garcia and a brother, Sammy D. Flores.
Services will be held Monday at 9:30 a.m. at the Oleska-Patrick Funeral Home, 3934 Elm St., East Chicago. A Mass of Christian burial will follow at 10 a.m. at St. John Cantius Church in East Chicago and burial will be in Ridgelawn Cemetery in Gary. Calling at the funeral home will be Saturday from 4 to 6 p.m. and Sunday from 3 to 8 p.m.
