Son of the late Leo Brown and Gertrude (Sarviss) Brown , he was born February 25, 1920 in Newburgh.
Mr. Brown was a veteran of the United States Army 7th Armed Division 434th Service Battalion having served during WWII from 1942-1946 in the European Zone Battle of Ardennes, Battle of Northern France, Battle of Germany, Battle of Rhineland, and the Battle of Central Europe. Howard belonged to the Teamsters Local 445 and worked for Star Expansion in Mountainville, NY. Howard was an avid fisherman and sportsman and belonged to many clubs, including, the Orange County Federation of Sportman, the NRA, Orange Lake fish and game club, Rock Tavern Rod and Gun club, and the Bethlehem Rod and Gun club.
Other than his parents, Howard was predeceased by his brothers Herbert and Harold and his sister Leah Damino.
Howard is survived by three nieces, Virginia Brown of Newburgh, Sharlene Desens of California, and Marlene Martin of Florida.
Visitation for Howard will be held from 5-7 pm Monday, September 17, 2012 at Brooks Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 10 am Tuesday, September 18, 2012 at the Funeral Home, burial will follow with military honors at Woodlawn Cemetery in New Windsor.
