Juanita Unice Compestine: 1906 - 1991
Juanita Unice Compestine died June 29, 1991, at the age of 84 after an extended illness.
She was bom July 17, 1906, in Hayden and raised in the Hayden and Steamboat Springs area. On April 10, 1929, she married Louis Arthur Compestine. Louis died Jan. 18,1980.
Juanita was a devoted family person but also spent many years assisting numerous families and various businesses with cleaning and housekeeping.
In her spare time, Juanita loved to fish, knit, crochet and sew.
Services were held Wednesday, July 3, at 1 p.m. in the Greeno Mortuary Chapel at Steamboat Springs. The Rev. William Kennard officiated.
Organist at the service was Maxine Ohman, with Tim Wren serving as soloist. Pallbearers were Gordon Rintool, John Sena, Rick Howe, Robert Whitecotton, Bob Williams and Larry Belton.
Visitation was held Tuesday evening from 4-7 p.m. at the Greeno Mortuary Chapel for family and friends.
Juanita was buried in the Steamboat Springs Cemetery next to her husband.
She leaves two sons, James Compestine of Craig, and Melvin Compestine of Steamboat; one daughter, Catherine Henessee of Loveland; a brother, David Fletcher of Lake Elsinor, Calif.; three sisters, Julia Blanford of Dolores, Rosa Luksich of Westminster, and Virginia Buntin of Broomfield; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Juanita will be missed by all of those who knew and loved her.
